Helping employees remain at work or return safely and confidently.
Musculoskeletal pain and injury can affect an employee’s comfort, movement, confidence and ability to complete their normal duties. Early assessment and appropriate rehabilitation may help prevent manageable problems becoming prolonged absences.
Free Your Body Therapy provides an assessment-led pathway for employees experiencing musculoskeletal difficulties affecting their work.
The pathway:
1. Initial clinical assessment:
A physiotherapist or osteopath will assess:
The employee’s symptoms and relevant medical history.
Movement, strength and functional capacity.
How their work activities may influence their symptoms.
Any warning signs requiring medical investigation or onward referral.
The employee’s goals and current ability to remain at or return to work.
2. Individual rehabilitation plan:
Depending on clinical need, the plan may include:
Physiotherapy or osteopathic treatment.
Individually prescribed exercise rehabilitation.
Clinical Pilates or Reformer-based rehabilitation.
Advice about activity, pacing and symptom management.
Shockwave or MLS® laser therapy where clinically appropriate.
Guidance about a gradual return to particular movements or physical demands.
Treatment options are discussed with the employee and selected according to individual clinical need—not delivered as a predetermined package.
3. Work-focused recommendations:
Where appropriate, the clinician may recommend temporary adjustments such as:
Modified duties or movement demands.
Changes to lifting, carrying or repetitive tasks.
Additional movement breaks.
A gradual increase in working hours or physical workload.
Temporary restrictions followed by planned progression.
Practical strategies to support a sustainable return to normal duties.
Recommendations are advisory and should be considered by the employer alongside its own occupational-health, HR and health-and-safety responsibilities.
4. Review and progression:
Progress is reviewed against agreed functional goals. The rehabilitation plan may then be progressed, amended or concluded.
The aim is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help the employee rebuild the movement, strength and confidence required for work and everyday life.
Communication with the employer:
The employee remains our patient and clinical decisions are made in their best interests.
With the employee’s informed written consent, FYB can provide the employer with a concise report outlining:
Functional abilities relevant to work.
Recommended temporary adjustments.
Expected rehabilitation milestones.
Suggested review timescales.
Relevant return-to-work considerations.
Detailed clinical information will not be shared without appropriate consent. Employers will not control clinical treatment or receive information unrelated to the employee’s work capacity.
Referral and payment options:
Employees may:
Refer themselves and pay privately.
Attend through an employer-funded arrangement.
Be referred by an employer, HR representative or occupational-health provider—with the employee’s agreement.
Appointments remain subject to FYB’s usual booking and cancellation terms.
Important scope:
This pathway supports musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation. It does not replace:
Emergency or primary medical care.
Statutory health-and-safety assessments.
Specialist occupational-health services.
An employer’s legal responsibilities.
Formal fitness-for-work certification or a GP-issued fit note.
